A graduate of Harvard’s Kennedy School with a Master’s in Public Policy , Kaj transitioned from uniform to journalism, driven by the same commitment to service and truth. He became an Emmy-nominated correspondent and producer , known for immersive, on-the-ground storytelling. Kaj has reported from war zones and disaster regions including Somalia, Yemen, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Colombia-producing documentaries for CNN, VICE, and Netflix . His Netflix original series The Business of Drugs became a breakout hit and earned global acclaim.

Beyond journalism, Kaj is the founder of Guild Financial , a fintech company built to empower military veterans with investing tools and financial education. The company was acquired by Siebert Financial in 2023 , where Kaj continues to lead military strategy and communications. He also played a founding role in launching The Mission Continues , and has served on advisory boards for Team Rubicon Global and Force Blue , deploying multiple times on humanitarian missions.
